Rich, Tomatoey Pizza Sauce

Rich, tomatoey, herby, garlicky pizza sauce all done in 20 minutes!

Perfect for base of pizzas, pull-apart breads, scrolls or as a pasta sauce base.

Makes a massive batch. I divide up into small containers or ice cube trays and freeze and pull out and defrost when I need it

If you don’t have a Thermomix, I’ll give you tips below on how to do this on your stove top too

Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 1 HourTotal time: 1 H & 10 M
Tastes 100 times better then anything you could buy (with no preservatives or additives) and it’s so simple and easy.

Ingredients

  • 1 brown onion - peeled and cut in half
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic
  • 1/2 capsicum (optional)
  • Small handful of fresh basil and parsley
  • 10g olive oil
  • 2 x 400g tins of diced tomatoes
  • 60g tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon vege stock paste
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • Couple pinches black pepper

Instructions

Thermomix Method
  1. Add onion, garlic, capsicum and herbs to Thermomix and blend 3 seconds/speed 7
  2. Add all other ingredients and cook 20 minutes/115 degrees/speed 1. Place splash guard instead of measuring cup on the top so sauce can reduce. (If using TM5 or TM31 out basket on the lid)
  3. Once cooked put the measuring cup back in and blend speed 6 for a few seconds
  4. Done! Let cool and then put into airtight containers and keep in the fridge for a few days or freezer for up to 2 months.
Stove Top Method
  1. Dice onion, garlic, capsicum and herbs nice and small and add to saucepan with oil and cook over low heat for a few minutes.
  2. Add all other ingredients and cook for 20 minutes on low - stirring every few minutes.
  3. Once cooked - let cool and then you can blend in a food processor or stick blender if you want until smooth.
  4. Let cool and then put into airtight containers and keep in fridge for a few days or freezer up to 2 months.
